How to be an Astronaut - A special visitor- Dr John Porter (Marty's Dad)

Marty
It was good to have Dad come in to talk to the grade 1 and 2 students. He talked about space. He applied to be an astronaut twice and he did lots of the trials to get in. My Dad knows a lot about space and sometimes we watch space videos together with Mum. I was proud of Dad coming in to talk to everyone.

It was exciting because Dr John talked a lot about space, but not just random things. He answered questions. The probe that travelled the farthest has gone out of the solar system. The farthest distance that people have travelled in space is to the moon.

I liked it when he shared all his knowledge about space. He knew a lot, including how many stars in the galaxy and how many planets there are. I also learnt about a new planet called Ceres. I was really interested when he said that there are 2.5 billion stars in the galaxy. He told us that the tallest rocket was 100 metres long.
