Learning and Teaching

Year 1
The Year 1 learners have recently completed their cumulative reviews for both InitiaLit and InitialWrite, and we are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding growth they have shown. These assessments highlighted significant increases in knowledge and understanding, demonstrating that our learners have truly “caught what has been taught” throughout the year so far.
The growth we have witnessed has been incredible and is a true testament to the persistence, dedication and commitment of our Year 1 learners. At the beginning of the year, many learners were focusing on forming individual letters and building confidence with sounds and words. They are now independently writing simple narratives filled with ideas, detail and creativity. Watching this growth unfold has been both exciting and rewarding.
Our Year 1 learners should be extremely proud of themselves and the effort they bring to their learning each and every day. We are equally proud of the way they continue to challenge themselves, apply feedback and celebrate their successes.
Year 5
Camp preparations are in full swing! We are looking forward to visiting Sovereign Hill for our day excursion, where we will learn about life on the Victorian Goldfields and the diverse people who migrated to Australia during this era. We are staying at Log Cabin Camp in Creswick, where we will participate in activities designed to develop teamwork, resilience, and confidence. Stay tuned for photos and updates in Week 7!
As part of Catholic Education Week, the Year 5 learners wrote letters to residents of local aged care homes. This endeavour—part of our mission to “Seek Peace and Pursue it”—was well received by our learners, who enjoyed reaching out and sharing a message of joy and support.
