St Carlo Acutis
Extra, Extra, read all about it, we have a new Saint and he was born in 1991!! Saint Carlo Acutis, often called the “Cyber Apostle of the Eucharist,” has become a powerful role model for young people across the world.
Carlo was an ordinary teenager with a love for technology, computer programming and video games. Yet, what set him apart was the way he used his gifts and passions to bring people closer to God. He created a website cataloguing Eucharistic miracles from around the world, ensuring that the timeless message of Christ could reach others through modern means.
What makes Carlo especially relatable is his down-to-earth nature. He loved soccer, enjoyed playing with his multiple pets, loved Pokémon and played video games regularly. Yet, in the middle of this ordinary teenage life, he placed prayer, the sacraments and care for others at the centre. He once said, “To always be close to Jesus, that’s my life plan.” This simple but profound outlook has encouraged young people everywhere to remember that faith is not about doing extraordinary things, but about living ordinary life with extraordinary love.
Carlo reminds us that holiness is not distant or unattainable, it can be lived out in the everyday moments of life. He showed that young people can use their talents, interests and creativity for a greater purpose, especially in service of others and in deepening their faith. His joy, kindness and devotion to the Eucharist continue to inspire millions, encouraging young people to seek God in their daily lives. Blessed Carlo’s example teaches us that sainthood is possible for everyone, even in our digital age, if we choose to live with love, faith and a heart for God.
Saint Carlo continues to be a reminder that young people are not just the future of the Church, they are its living, vibrant present. If you are interested in the process of Sainthood or more about St Carlo, check out the attached slides for more.
