Principal's News

'Everyone is born original, but most end up dying as photocopies.' This is a quote from St Carlo Acutis, a young boy who used technology to evangelise and spread the Good News. I was in Assisi, where his body lays, on his first Feast Day this year.

What is missed with this quote is that he first spoke of a love of God, our call to love and our call to serve. Therefore without this first, his quote could lead us to focus on a self serving idea where we can be who ever we want to be, without any accountability to others.

This is the opposite of almost every other message of Carlo. Carlo chose to push the boundaries through sharing a love of God and in particular, prayer and the blessed Sacrament. Over 6000 young people gathered in Melbourne last week to continue that message.

As we farewell a wonderful group of Year 6 students, we hope that they become originals, but true originals who exist to make the lives of others better. Carlos wrote, God has written a unique and unrepeatable story for each of us, but he lets us write the ending. We hope their journey is one where they take control of with their choices, and do what they can to make the life of at least one other person more special!

Congratulations to Jane, Madhuja, Siarra, Wiktoria, Gwen, Reshan, Sarah, Ella L, Lea, Ella M, Devika, Dominic, Kamoch, Anna, Ella P, Falito, Hanish, Amira.

Joy Of Christmas

Joy comes from the Latin word Gaudere, which means rejoice. Joy is different to happy, or fun, as it is a deeper sense of satisfaction, contentment and full of peace. It is a inner sense of positivity that radiates through people, who can often provide you with a greater sense of optimism.

I am fortunate to work in a school where joy is prevalent daily. It is through the children. Those moments where they light up, there little interactions, and even when they say 6 7. Speaking to colleagues who have left schools, it is always the one thing they miss, seeing real joy so often.

In a world that pushes Christmas to be a hectic, consumer driven event, I hope that in a moment, you may find time with your family to experience joy in one another this Christmas.

Thanks and 2026 Plans

Thanks to everyone for the year that was. We launch into what will be a historical new year. The building will commence in the first week of February, with all documentation finalised now. Our Prep class with Mrs Drury have started in their room, the classroom unused this year in the junior building, Year 1 with Miss Lim will be where 1/2 are this year, and Year 2/3 with Mrs Hudson will be where Prep was this year. Year 4/5 with Mrs LG will be in the hall, and share the hall with our office. We will have a fully functioning classroom with TV, whiteboard, Desks and chairs. Year 6 will be in the Art room, which is where After School Care will be after school. The school office will be in the hall, and entry will be through the hall foyer.

There will be some adjustment required, but it will be 8 months of pain for a very big long term gain. All adjustments are considered and risks assessed to ensure that we continue to provide a child safe, predictable and calm environment.

The calmness in the classrooms has been outstanding recently, even despite swimming, great learning routines happening every morning.

Merry Christmas to all!
