Junior Athletics Squad Excels at Division Competition

Congratulations to all Junior students who represented Cobram AGS at the Goulburn-Murray Division Athletics Championships in Shepparton on Monday 13 October. The day showcased outstanding individual performances and tremendous team spirit across all events.

We are delighted to reveal that eight students have qualified for the Hume Regional Championships after securing top two finishes in their respective events. Individual qualifiers include Scarlett Lean, Frankie Lean, Laney Eddy, and Ollie Adkins, while our 9/10 Boys relay team of Xayver Hyde, Nate Hemingway, Jenson Mortlock, and Alex Bate also progressed to the next level of competition.

Several other students delivered impressive performances on the day. Abigail Gemmill claimed third place in shot put, while Nate Hemingway and Arveen Gill both finished third in their 800m races. Nate Rodda secured third place in discus, and our Girls 12/13 relay team of Lucy Dean, Mia Hayward, Bridie Iskov, and Scarlett Lean rounded out the podium finishes with a strong third-place result.

We commend all students who competed and represented our school with such great sportsmanship. Special thanks to Mr O'Dwyer and Ms Ward for their support and supervision throughout the event.

We wish our regional qualifiers the very best as they prepare for the next stage of competition!

Senior Students Shine at Regional Athletics Championships

Twelve Senior School students represented Cobram AGS at the Hume Regional Athletics Carnival in Albury this week, delivering impressive performances across track and field events. Melody, Indi, Neve, Bella, Jasper, Jayden, Aiden, Coen, Angus, George, Harlin, and Sam all competed with determination and skill, achieving several outstanding results throughout the day.

Age Champion Honours

The highlight of the carnival was brothers Jas Brown 12/13 Boys and Sam Brown U15 Boys being crowned Age Champion in their respective groups! Amazingly, Jas set a new record in the 12/13 Boys 1500m event with a blistering time of 4:36, eclipsing the record that had stood since 2007! Both students have now qualified for the State Championships after winning individual events. Well done boys!

Additional Highlights

Year 9 student Harlin Robbins also claimed a podium finish, placing second in the U15 Boys 200m, producing a huge run to just miss out on gold! The Year 7 Boys relay team of Coen, Jayden, Jasper, and Aiden finished fourth in their event, while George Marshall secured fourth place in javelin.

We congratulate all our athletes for their commitment, sportsmanship, and excellent representation of our school. Our thanks go to Mr O'Dwyer and Mrs Shannon for their support and supervision throughout the event.

Year 7/8 Summer Sports

Clay Target

Our Year 7 and 8 students who took part in GMD Clay Target at the Summer Sports event in Shepparton had an awesome day out! For many, it was their first time trying the sport — a fun and exciting introduction to competitive shooting.

We saw some outstanding performances, with Elsie Murphy (Year 7) crowned the overall Girls Top Gun Champion, and Sloane Bonat finishing as runner-up. Meanwhile, Will Waser (Year 7) impressed with his accuracy and consistency to claim the Boys Top Gun title!

Our Year 7 and 8 students certainly brought their A-game to the GMD Volleyball competition at Cobram Sports Stadium! After a full day of competitive matches, both our Year 8 Boys and Year 8 Girls teams battled their way through to the final — a fantastic effort and a credit to their teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship. Well done all!
