Reflection Friday 8 August
This Sunday’s entrance antiphon is from Psalm 73:20, 19, 22, 23
‘Look to your covenant, O Lord,
And forget not the life of your poor ones for ever.
Arise, O God, and defend your cause,
And forget not the cries of those who seek you.’
This Term we are responding to a request from the Shepparton South St Vincent de Paul Conference for help as they provide basic emergence food packages for homeless people and rough sleepers. In answering the call for help we are recognising the face of God in those around us and respecting the dignity of each person. While the wider world is complicated and we may feel beyond our capacity to help, we can help those closer to home, in our neighbourhood. Last Term many families responded with generosity and love to the urgent request from St Vincent de Paul Society for hygiene products when they found they did not have supplies to meet the immediate needs of those seeking assistance. The generosity of St Anne’s College community has resulted in the restocking of almost a year’s worth of supplies. God has no hands but ours. May we use our hands with love, kindness and generosity.
May the Peace of Christ be with you and your families this term.

St Vincent de Paul call for assistance this winter
The Shepparton South St Vincent de Paul Conference is seeking assistance this winter as they prepare food bags for rough sleepers and other homeless people. If you are able to assist, please send the following items to St Anne’s College and we will forward them on to St Vincent de Paul Shepparton South Conference. As these items are provided to homeless people and rough sleepers, small packages are appreciated rather than bulk items (1 litre milk rather than 2 litre, 400g tins, rather than 800g) they are then easier for people to take with them. Usually items are packaged into one shopping bag.
Any of the following donations will be greatly appreciated.
- UHT milk -no larger than 1 litre
- Cereal (only small items please)
- Tinned spaghetti, baked beans, soup (usually of the chunkier varieties)
- Two minute noodles
- Peanut butter/Vegemite
- Salada biscuits (or other kinds that can be a bread substitute)
- Sweet biscuits
- Instant rice or instant pasta packets
- Canned fruit
- Coffee and Tea
Sacramental Program
Information regarding the Term 3 and 4 Sacramental Program for Reconciliation will in future college newsletters and St Mel’s Parish Church notices.
May the Peace of Christ be with you and your families this term.
