Schools Spectacular Mass Choir Rehearsal

On Wednesday 23rd July, the Year 5/6 Chilwell Schools Spectacular Mass Choir students travelled into Melbourne for our first major rehearsal at Melbourne Town Hall. Last term, we went to Northern Bay College for two smaller hub rehearsals, but this time the whole Victorian choir was in attendance, with over 1000 students. We left school on the bus at 7:30am and picked up the Hamlyn Banks students on the way. It took about two hours to get to the town hall, followed by 5 hours of singing practice. At the end of the day, we all hopped back on the bus and travelled the two hours home, arriving at school just after 5:00pm. The day was long and tiring, but lots of fun. It was great having the opportunity to sing in harmony, learn from our amazing conductor and hear the power of so many voices singing at once. We have one more rehearsal at Melbourne Town Hall in mid-August, where we’ll be joined by our principal and backing vocalists, our rhythm section and some special guests, then it’s on to performance week in mid-September at John Cain Arena.
