Principal's Report

Our final Newsletter of Term 3 sees our staff and students welcoming the up-coming break after what has been an extremely busy term for everyone at Oberon. Over this term there have been a range of events and activities, international camps and of course, the final preparations for our Year 12 students are well under way as they undertake their final assessments in preparation for exams and their graduation next Term.

I would like to thank and acknowledge all the staff at Oberon who have worked tirelessly to support our students throughout this term. In addition, I would also like to thank those staff who are running additional exam preparation sessions for students during this upcoming holiday period so that our students are best prepared for their final exams. 

This week also included our Year 12 Vocational VCE Showcase which was well attended by students, families and staff. It was a terrific gathering and the stories and thanks that were shared by our students, underscores the wonderful work undertaken by our students but also the support provided by families and our staff at Oberon. I am sure that these students will go on to achieve further success in their post-secondary school pathways, and we wish them our very best.

Our international tour group have just returned from Indonesia and all had a wonderful time negotiating some of the challenges when travelling internationally, in particular some active volcanoes, changed flight schedules and other joys of being an international traveller.   I’m sure that all the touring group (both staff and students) will have many stories to share with families and our school community.

As a final note, I wanted to thank our staff and students for the organisation and participation in our school’s Cultural Day, held on the last day of term. Seeing our students celebrating their rich cultural backgrounds, traditions, clothes and dances was a terrific positive for everyone in attendance. It was certainly a really positive way to finish off this term.
