A Prayer for the Third Week of Advent

Dear God, 

As we light the third candle of Advent, we rejoice in the promise of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Fill our hearts with joy that comes from knowing You are near. 

Help us to share this joy with others through kindness, patience, and love. 

May our preparations for Christmas remind us that true happiness is found in Your presence. 

Bless our families, our school community, and all who long for peace and hope. 

Amen.

The third candle on the Advent wreath is pink and stands for joy. We light it on the third Sunday of Advent, called Gaudete Sunday, which means “rejoice.” This candle reminds us to be happy because Christmas is getting close and Jesus is coming soon. The pink color shows a break from the purple of waiting and tells us to celebrate with hope and joy in our hearts.
