Prayer for the Ascension of the Lord

O Lord Jesus Christ,

You ascended into heaven in glory,

leaving Your disciples in awe and wonder.

As You were lifted up before their eyes,

You promised to send the Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen them.

 

We praise You, exalted King,

enthroned at the right hand of the Father,

interceding for us and preparing a place for us in 

Your heavenly kingdom.

 

Grant us the grace to live as faithful witnesses of Your resurrection,

with hearts set on things above, 

not on earthly things.

May we, like the apostles,

wait in joyful hope for the coming of the Holy Spirit,

and be empowered to proclaim Your love to the ends of the earth.

 

Until You come again in glory,

keep us steadfast in faith, joyful in hope, and generous in love.
