Catholic Mission
The Ascension of Jesus is the event where Jesus, after His resurrection, ascended to Heaven. This event happened 40 days after Easter Sunday. It is a significant event in the Christian faith as it marks the end of Jesus’ physical presence on earth and the beginning of His spiritual presence in Heaven.
Jesus had completed His mission on earth, which was to die for the sins of humanity and rise again. Jesus’ ascension was a sign of His victory over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven to be with God the Father, where He continues to intercede on our behalf.
During Jesus’ Ascension, He was with His disciples on the Mount of Olives. He blessed them and asked them to spread the good news of His resurrection throughout the world. Suddenly, a cloud appeared, and Jesus was taken up to Heaven. The disciples watched as He disappeared into the clouds.
The Ascension of Jesus means that we have hope for our future. Jesus’ ascension assures us of our eternal life with Him in Heaven. It also means that Jesus is still with us, even though we cannot see Him physically. He is present in our lives, guiding and protecting us. The Ascension reminds us to spread the good news of Jesus’ resurrection to others, just as the disciples were instructed to do.
