MacKillop Tennis

Petar has returned from his week away competing at the NSWPSSA Tennis Tournament. Petar was selected to represent MacKillop for a second year in a row. The MacKillop team achieved great results and the boys finished 5th (compared to 9th place last year). The boys and girls combined MacKillop results saw them finishing 4th in NSW.

Petar’s experience was a positive one. He mentioned the effort and support from all his team is what delivered the great results. It was an amazing week full of games and fun, especially making new friends.

We are so proud of your achievements Petar.

Cross Country

The Sydney Cross Country Championships was held last week on the 14th of May at Sydney Motor Sports Park. Tremendous weather conditions made for a great day of student participation and achievement. There were a total of 2455 students from 119 schools across all Sydney Catholic Primary schools competing at this event.

The event was extremely well organised and the 80 officials along with 22 secondary school helpers should be acknowledged for how smoothly this event ran. This event was live streamed and was watched over 3,800 times.

Another massive thank you to our year 6 leaders who helped out on the day. We hope everyone had fun!

NFL Flag Football

Flag Football is an Olympic Sport in 2028 and the NFL is putting a lot of resources Worldwide for the promotion of the sport. Our school will be involved in this program which at this point will be targeted at our current year 4, year 5 and year 6 students. Miss Devlin has completed an online course to implement during Physical Education here at school. We are awaiting for the arrival of some new equipment to facilitate this program.

One of our classes will also participate in a free demonstrated lesson by a trained professional.  Next term, our school will be entering the NSW State Tournament. The proposed date for this tournament is Friday the 9th of August with a venue to be confirmed. Details regarding this tournament are still yet to be released.

The winning team from this day will receive a funded trip to Brisbane to compete at the National Cup. The winning primary school of the national cup will continue to receive a funded trip to the Pro Bowl in the US.

Sports Days for 2024

COMMUNITY SPORT

Jack K and Joshua G from 4N finished the 2023-2024 baseball season as Premiers. The boys played in the Division 2 (Zooka) comp for the first time and had a fantastic season making new friends and learning new skills.

Jack K also recently attended the Bankstown NFL Flag Come & Try Day on Sunday 21st April at Ruse Park. Jack took part in some fun drills, learnt about the fundamental skills of flag football and played some NFL Flag games. Jack also got to meet Australia’s very own Jordan Mailata, who plays professional American football for the Philadelphia Eagles.
