ANZAC Day Ceremony

2026 will mark the 94th year that Melbourne Legacy's ANZAC Commemoration Ceremony for Students has brought together thousands of Victorian primary and secondary school students to honour Australia's history of service and reflect on the values of courage, sacrifice and community.

Held annually at Melbourne's iconic Shrine of Remembrance, this historic event began in the early 1930s as a way to ensure young people understood the meaning of ANZAC and the impact of war on families and communities. Nearly a century later, it remains one of Victoria’s longest-running commemoration events, connecting students with stories, ceremonial traditions, and the ongoing legacy of service.

Through guided participation, engaging speeches from distinguished guests, wreath laying, and engagement with Melbourne Legacy’s work supporting families of veterans, students gain a deeper understanding of remembrance and their role in carrying it forward for generations to come.
