St Catherine’s newest Olympian!
The St Catherine’s School community congratulates Old Girl Maddie Hooker (‘22) on her selection to the Australian Olympic Team for Milano-Cortina Olympic Games 2026.
Maddie is competing in three events: Skiathlon, Cross-Country Skiing 10km, and Cross-Country Sprint. Maddie represented St Catherine’s on the slopes of Mt Buller and it is incredible to see her growth and development to now be competing at the highest level. We wish Maddie all the best at the Olympic Games and beyond.
GSV Sport
GSV Sport is underway for 2026. Term 1 Sports Softball, Volleyball & Tennis have kicked off with over 250 students participating. We are proud to see so many of our students involved, starting the season in an engaged and positive way, and achieving promising early results. Our GSV Triathlon Team has doubled in size from 2025, with 64 entries confirmed for the event at Altona Beach on Sunday 22 February. Good luck to all competitors. The GSV Swim Squad continues to prepare for the upcoming GSV Season, with trials currently underway and we look forward to the Preliminary C Carnival on Monday 2 March at PLC.
Rowing
On Saturday 7 February, we hosted our second St Catherine's School Regatta on the Barwon River. It was an incredible event that showcased the community spirit of the Heyington Club. Parents and families from all squads were involved in the running of the event, doing tasks from catering through to race timing. Many months of planning lead up to this day and it has certainly become the highlight in the Regatta Calendar for all Victorian schoolgirl programs. We are so appreciative of the Heyington Club and the hard work and dedication they put in to produce such a spectacular day, which assists in the raising of funds for our Rowing Program.
It was a highlight to have all our squads down supporting the event. In particular, it was fantastic having our Senior rowers buddied up with Junior and Intermediate crews and coaches, sharing their wisdom and race experience. Our Junior and Intermediate rowers and coxswains demonstrated the hard work they have put in over the summer and recent training camps and produced amazing results on the day. We are excited to see them progress from strength to strength in the coming weeks as they work towards the Head of the Schoolgirls' Regatta.
Our Senior crews are racing again this weekend in Nagambie, while we look forward to the St Catherine's Rowing Community coming together for our Crew Presentations on Sunday 22 February, from 3.00pm - 5.00pm at the School.
