PRIMARY NEWS

from the Assistant Principal

Mrs Cathy Koch

ckoch@arm.catholic.edu.au

At Holy Trinity, we encourage students to consider how their daily actions, presence, and choices positively impact others. By contributing meaningfully each day, students build strong, respectful relationships with their peers, staff, and the broader community. Students are encouraged to speak respectfully by saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you,’ greeting others politely, using encouraging words and thinking before speaking. Simply put, Speaking to Others the Way We Want to Be Spoken To.

It was lovely to see so many families present for grandparents day recently. We loved hosting you for a liturgy and morning tea, and showing off our classrooms. Thank you too for visiting the book fair! Term 3 is a wonderful time of year when books come to life as we put reading, imagination and storytelling at the heart of school life. Book Week gives our children the opportunity to experience books as something joyful, exciting and worth sharing - not simply something they read because they have to. Our dress-up parade in Week 6, along with the activities leading up to Book Week, are a fun way for us to bring this message to life and celebrate the wonderful world of books and reading together. Be sure to read Mrs Fraser’s library section of the newsletter for more information.

School Uniform

Full winter uniform is required. Please ensure your child is wearing the correct footwear and a tie, and that bright hair accessories or non-compliant jewellery are kept for weekends. We appreciate your support in ensuring the correct uniform is worn tidily. If your child is missing any part of their uniform, please send a written note to their teacher.

Family Conferences and PP Meetings

Thank you to all families who are attending Family Conferences and PP meetings. Teachers value the opportunity to share with you academic and social progress, elaborate on Semester 1 reports, look at the learning ahead and set meaningful learning goals.

A big shout out to the students who have been involved in extra curricular events recently. All Year 5 and 6 students and selected Year 4 students participated in the Newcastle Permanent Maths Competition, ICAS assessments begin this week for those who signed up, and our year 6 debaters take on the third round of inter-diocesan debating. Last week over 100 of our primary children participated in the NSW Netball cup held in Inverell, and many travelled to Tamworth for the ACS Primary Athletics. Yesterday our successful Futsal team from the Primary Futsal Comp in Armidale competed in Coffs Harbour and this Friday we have a Stage 2 and Stage 3 team of tennis players competing in the Todd Woodbridge Cup. Next week will involve a NSW Primary Touch Gala Day and K-2 Athletics Carnival on the back oval. Thank you to all the staff involved in providing these extra opportunities through selection events, training and supervising, and families for their support.

ICAS Assessments

ICAS testing begins this week with English. Science is scheduled for Week 5, followed by Mathematics in Week 6. Catch-up sessions will be arranged during the testing week for any absent students.

We ask that all correspondence with staff is via the Compass portal.

If you would like to speak with the classroom teacher, please arrange a mutually convenient time to meet or leave a message at the front office for the teacher to get back to you.

Please try to avoid just popping into a classroom in the morning when the classroom teacher is preparing for the day's learning.
