Friendship Day
Last Thursday we celebrated U R Strong’s Friendship Day — a day where we concentrated on the many elements of friendship and strengthened our students’ understanding of what it means to be a good friend.
Being able to make a good friend and keep a good friend is an important life skill. Friendships help children feel connected, valued and that they belong. They provide opportunities to laugh together, learn from one another, solve problems, support each other and importantly, learn how to navigate the ups and downs that naturally occur in relationships.
Walking around the playground on any given day, it is obvious that many children have developed wonderful friendships at Scoresby PS. Some friendships are multi-aged, with older and younger students enjoying time together. Some are based on a shared love of sport, while others are built around creativity — making books, drawing, colouring or sharing ideas with friends in the library.
Friendship helps children develop empathy, kindness, cooperation and resilience. It teaches them to listen to others, consider different perspectives, celebrate someone else’s success and recognise when a friend might need a little extra support.
Of course, friendships aren’t always easy. Children sometimes disagree, feel left out or experience disappointment. These moments provide valuable opportunities for children to learn how to communicate, resolve conflict, apologise, forgive and try again. These are skills that will support them not only throughout their school years, but throughout their lives.
At Scoresby PS, we want every child to experience the feeling of belonging. We encourage our students to look beyond their own friendship groups, to include others, to notice when someone is alone and to be the person who reaches out and says, “Come and play with us.”
A good friend can make an enormous difference to a child’s day — and sometimes, to their whole experience of school.
Friendship matters. Kindness matters. Belonging matters.
Production Time!
Scoresby Primary School Production -Artifacts Tickets now on sale
We are thrilled to announce that Scoresby Primary School will be taking our audience on a spectacular journey around the world with our upcoming school production!
Our students will take to the stage at Rowville Performing Arts Centre on Wednesday, 9th September 2026, for an exciting celebration of culture, music and dance. Our students will showcase cultures and traditions from around the world through vibrant performances, music, dance and colourful costumes.
Behind the scenes, our students and staff have been working hard to prepare what promises to be a memorable evening. Our biennial production provides our students with a wonderful opportunity to build confidence, creativity, teamwork and performance skills, while celebrating the many cultures and backgrounds that make our school community so special.
We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and commitment our students have shown throughout rehearsals. Their excitement is contagious, and we cannot wait to see them shine on stage!

Book Week is coming ~ Week 17th - 21st of August
Book Fair August 17th - 19th
Book Parade Assembly 9am Friday 21st August
Book week is almost here and once again we are holding our annual Book Fair. This year the book fair will be held in our Services Room, in the main building. Jenny Clarke is the new coordinator. Jenny will be setting up the Book Fair on Thursday, and the students will have their preview of the books on Friday. Book sales will be Monday – Wednesday.
The other annual SPS celebration for Book Week is the Book Week Parade at assembly. Come dressed as your favourite BOOK CHARACTER and join in the fun. We will hold a morning assembly for this occasion.
Westfield Shopping Centre Knox - Promotion Morning
We have had our second session at Westfield Knox this week promoting our wonderful school. Westfield Knox have been fantastic by including us in their Kids Morning at Knox activities. We took 3 activities with us yesterday - a promotional colouring page, a shape monster maths activity and a maths game which kept the little ones occupied.
We were able to hand out our promotional material, including our Thursday Playgroup flyers, and talked to many local families. Thanks to Westfield Knox for having us, and to Miss Whitington who sourced the educational activities. It was a really fun morning.
