Principal's Message

As we move through another busy and exciting term, I would like to take the opportunity to thank our wonderful families for your ongoing support of George Street Primary School.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our Special Persons Afternoon Tea. It was wonderful to have so many parents, grandparents, carers and special people join us to celebrate the important relationships that support our students every day. The smiles, conversations and sense of community made the afternoon a very special occasion, and we greatly appreciate everyone who took the time to attend. To celebrate the diverse family structures within our school community, we have transitioned from traditional Mother's Day and Father's Day celebrations to a Special Persons Day, ensuring every student has the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the important people in their lives.
I am also delighted to share that our new playground has now been completed. The playground looks fantastic and has already generated great excitement amongst our students. We are now awaiting the final inspection before it can officially open, and we look forward to sharing this exciting milestone with our school community very soon.
NAPLAN reports have now been distributed to families. These reports provide valuable information about your child's progress in literacy and numeracy. If you have any questions about your child's results or would like to discuss their learning in more detail, please contact your child's classroom teacher to arrange a suitable time to meet.
Looking ahead, we have a very busy and exciting few weeks planned. Students will be participating in our swimming program, AFL 9s, a range of performance excursions, and netball activities. These opportunities provide valuable experiences beyond the classroom, helping students to build confidence, develop new skills and enjoy learning alongside their peers. Please keep an eye on Compass for permission forms, event information and reminders to ensure your child is ready to participate.
We have quite a few cold and flu like illness moving throughout our community currently. If your child is unwell, please allow them to rest and recover before returning to school.
Have a great week. Thank you.
