Parent Wellbeing Presentation
Chevalier is a valued member of the Open Parachute family, a digital wellbeing platform, who has invited our parent and caregiver community to a very special evening on Wednesday 4 March.
Join leading adolescent clinical psychologist and co-founder of Open Parachute, Dr Hayley Watson, for an in-person and online event that aims to help parents, guardians, and caregivers learn the most effective tools for building child/adolescent resilience to counteract stress/anxiety.
Dr. Watson will focus on skills and strategies to help caregivers equip their child with the tools they need to overcome stress and change unhelpful behaviour patterns.

Gap Year
Are you considering a structured gap year after school?
Students are invited to attend a free online information session with New Ventures Worldwide designed for students, parents and careers advisers who want to understand how a volunteering gap year works and whether it is the right fit.
The session will outline supported volunteering placements in Spain, Canada and the UK, including safety, programme structure and the application process.

Calendar Change - Monday 27 April
As you may be aware, the NSW Government recently gazetted Monday 27 April as a public holiday. Accordingly, there will be no school on that day.
Our Parent–Teacher Evening was scheduled to take place on Monday 27 April and will therefore be rescheduled. The new date will be communicated to families as soon as it is confirmed.
The College Leadership Team did consider a range of alternatives, including adjustments around the commencement of Term 2, however, there was a feeling that various options would cause considerable disruption for families and staff.
At this stage, and in alignment with government schools, the College, as planned, will commence Term 2 with two staff development days followed by three student learning days, with the public holiday now falling on the second Monday of the term.
Other than the rescheduling of the Parent–Teacher Evening, there will be no further changes to the College calendar at the start of Term 2.
ID Cards
Next week, student ID cards will be issued during Stage Meetings.
Students are required to carry their ID card at all times while on campus and present it if requested. ID cards are also needed to access printing and photocopying facilities.
Students must use their ID card to sign in or out at Student Services when arriving late or leaving early. If a student is unable to present their ID card, a parent or guardian will need to accompany them to sign in or out. If this is not possible, we will follow up with the student in line with school procedures and consequences will be given.
If an ID card is lost, a replacement cost of $15 applies. Students can order a replacement directly through MSP Photography. To help keep cards safe, we recommend storing them in the plastic sleeve at the back of the student diary.
Student Parking
Year 11 and 12 students who drive to school are required to complete a Senior Driving Authority Application. These forms can be collected from and returned to Student Services. For the first three months, students will be issued a Red Pass, which must be displayed on the front windscreen when entering the school grounds. Students with a Red Pass may only have themselves or direct family members in the car.
After three months, students may apply for a Green Pass. This must also be displayed on the windscreen. Students with a Green Pass may carry only those passengers listed on their approved form, with parent consent. Members of the Leadership Team will periodically check passes in the car park.
Students are strongly encouraged to park on school property, as it is the safest option. There is one student car park available - Car Park B - located on the Eridge Park Road side of the school. Please note that there is no right turn permitted from this exit. Students heading toward Moss Vale should go around the block and make a left turn onto Moss Vale Road.
Due to current building works, Charlotte Street is becoming increasingly congested, and we strongly discourage students from parking there.
Thank you for your support in ensuring the safety of students travelling to and from school.

Seeking Work Placement Hosts
Chevalier College is looking for local businesses (including parents and friends of the College) who can support our Year 10 Cert III Business students by hosting a work placement from Monday 2 March to Friday 6 March. Other dates can also be negotiated if these dates are not suitable.
Our students can assist with a range of entry-level admin duties such as:
- Reception support and greeting customers
- Filing and scanning
- Data entry
- Basic document formatting
- Mail-outs, stock/office supply checks
- Setting up meeting spaces
- General tidying, cleaning
- Keeping work areas organised
Even where hands-on tasks are limited, shadowing and observing a supervisor completing daily business operations is incredibly valuable learning.
If you can host a student, please get in touch with the VET Coordinator,
Peggy Handley at handleyp@chevalier.nsw.edu.au.
