Principal's Address

Mr Gregory Miller - Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

A warm sense of renewal always settles over Chevalier College by this point of Term 1, and this year that feeling is especially meaningful as we celebrate our 80th anniversary. It is a privilege for me, as principal, to see how our students have already leapt into the new school year with purpose and enthusiasm, embracing new opportunities and establishing strong momentum across all areas of College life, in this milestone year that invites both reflection and optimism.

Reaching 80 years gives us a moment to honour the generations of students, staff, families, and supporters who have shaped the College. Their legacy lives on in the values that continue to guide us and in the distinctive way we approach learning. Jules Chevalier himself is recognised by many as a pioneer of his time who dared to challenge the norms of the day, and his bold vision continues to inspire Chevalier College’s commitment to a heart‑centred, future‑facing education - one that recognises that academic growth and personal wellbeing are deeply connected.

Already this term, students have embraced new challenges with enthusiasm - settling into classes and new elective subjects, engaging in co‑curricular activities whether in the drama spaces or on the sports fields, seeking deeper faith connections on retreats, and contributing to the positive culture of the College. Even as this first 2026 edition of Chev News is being prepared ready to send to you, our students are braving the Highlands weather at the Swimming Carnival where House spirit and camaraderie are evident for all to see.  Their energy and joy sets a wonderful tone for the year ahead.

Throughout our 80th anniversary year, we will celebrate the stories and people who have shaped our journey while also looking forward to the exciting direction ahead. I look forward to sharing more about these events as the year unfolds.

Thank you for your partnership and the trust you place in us. I wish every student and family a year filled with growth, connection, and possibility, and I now invite you to pause in your busy day, perhaps make a cup of tea, and enjoy reading all about the first few weeks of this milestone year in this issue of Chev News.

Warm regards,

Greg Miller
