Wellbeing News

Wellbeing Captains: Congratulations to our newly elected 2026 Wellbeing Team! We look forward to the positive impact you will make in supporting and caring for our school community. 💙
SEL:
This year we are so excited to be continuing SEL (Social & Emotional Learning) . SEL is a special part of our week where students get the chance to slow down, connect, have fun and build really important life skills.
We focus on helping students learn how to regulate their emotions, solve problems (especially the tricky ones that can pop up in the yard!), build strong friendships and look after their overall social, emotional and physical wellbeing.
There are lots of games, teamwork challenges, discussions and reflection activities and plenty of laughs along the way, Our goal is to create a safe space where every student feels heard, valued and supported as it is great practice for the students to pass on what they have learnt at home and in the real world in future years to come :)
Preps: Our preps first ever session kicked off with a game of Emotions Freeze! Students practiced showing different emotions using their body language and facial expressions. We named as many feelings and “emojis” as we could think of, from excited and shy to silly and grumpy. It was wonderful to see students confidently identifying emotions and recognising how feelings can look different on our bodies when we dont use our words. We finished the session with a great story called Elephant learns to share and we drew some pictures of how we share in our own lives with brothers, sisters, friends on the yard and our grade 6 buddies.
Grade 1/2: students worked on teamwork and collaboration through a creative drawing challenge.
- 1/2 M created an ocean scene.
- 1/2 RS created a zoo scene.
Students worked in teams of four. Three teammates had to face away with ZERO peeking! while one team member had just10 seconds to draw part of the landscape, Stopping immediately...even when we hadn’t quite finished.... this was a little tricky at first!
Each student had multiple turns, and although the final pictures didn’t always turn out exactly as imagined, the task beautifully highlighted each groups creativity, cooperation, listening skills and respecting others’ ideas. There were lots of laughs along the way of the silly pictures.
Our senior students began their first session by completing “All About Me” reflections and identifying what they would like to gain from SEL this year.
We also explored sportsmanship through a lively Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament practicing how to win and lose graciously. To finish, students played Two Truths and a Lie, where classmates had to decipher which statement wasn’t true. This activity encouraged confidence, connection and plenty of laughter as we learned more about one another.
Ziggy and Ember : Terms 1 & 3
Ziggy Gets Ready for School! 🐾
Our beautiful therapy dog, Ziggy, recently had a very special fitting — he was measured up for his very own school uniform! Ziggy looked incredibly patient and proud as he was fitted for his custom outfit.
We were delighted to officially present Ziggy in his new uniform at our morning assembly. The students were excited to see him dressed as part of our school community, and he received a very warm welcome.
We would also like to sincerely thank Mrs McIntosh for her support and assistance in organising Ziggy’s uniform.
Ember
We are also excited to welcome Ember to our school community. Ember will be alternating with Ziggy at times and will also be supporting students throughout the school.
We are so proud to have Ziggy and Ember as part of our school family! 🐶✨
