I am delighted to announce that our Jazz Night concert has been officially included in the promoted global events for International Jazz Day 2026. International Jazz Day, founded by UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and legendary jazz pianist Herbie Hancock, is a worldwide celebration held each year on April 30 to highlight jazz as a powerful force for unity, peace and cultural dialogue.
This year, our college is proud to stand alongside an extraordinary lineup of international artists, festivals and institutions recognised on the official program. It is a wonderful acknowledgement of the strength of our jazz program and the dedication of our students and staff.
Marist Jazz Night will feature performances from Big Bands 1, 2 and 3, joined by special guest artists Unladylike Big Band, Brisbane’s acclaimed all‑women, women‑led ensemble known for championing female jazz musicians and composers. The concert will take place on April 27 at 6:30pm in the Experimental Theatre. Tickets will go on sale two weeks prior to the event. In the meantime, please visit our International Jazz Day event page and explore some of the other amazing events happening in Brisbane in April:

In Art club this term, students have enjoyed making fantasy hybrid creatures in clay. These are currently in the kiln being fired and we are looking forward to seeing the end result. Games workshop has seen a number of combats and battles taking place through participation in Warhammer and Dungeons and Dragons. Term 1 Art Club and Games Workshop concludes this week (Week 9) but will return in Term 2 (Week 3). Further details including information on how to join will be posted in the newsletters at the start of Term 2.
