Our Year 6 students spent three days exploring the city, and what a blast it was! Skyscrapers, sore feet, sweet treats and endless smiles. It was so special to see each and every student meet every challenge with resilience and enthusiasm.

Day 1 – 25,000+ steps

Wow, what a day! We waved our families goodbye and set off in high spirits. After dropping our bags at CYC, groups headed to explore the city. We travelled from Southern Cross Station to Hosier Lane, enjoyed lunch at Federation Square, explored the National Gallery of Victoria, and walked from the top of Southbank all the way down to King Street Bridge, stopping for a Slurpee treat along the way.

We returned to our accommodation where the students settled into their new digs. After a dinner of burgers and cheesecake, we headed out for our next adventure.

MSAC was so much fun. Diving boards, inflatable obstacle courses and wave pool action kept everyone smiling. Teachers were convinced our students would have happily stayed there all night if they could have!

After 2hrs in the pool, we packed up some very tired but very happy swimmers. We caught the tram back to our home away from home for hot chocolates. Then it was off to bed, ready for another big day ahead.

Day 2 - 22,000+ steps

Fuelled by egg and hashbrown breakfasts and plenty of excitement, we were ready for another big day.

Our morning began with a visit to the Shrine of Remembrance. It was a special moment, taking time to pause, reflect and learn about the stories that have shaped our nation. The students showed great respect as they explored and asked thoughtful questions.

From there, we headed to the MCG for a tour of this iconic sporting ground. Walking the same paths as sporting greats and soaking up the history of the game was a real highlight. There was plenty of excitement as students imagined the roar of the crowd on game day.

After a full day out, we returned to the hotel to rest up and get ready for one of the most anticipated events of the camp, the talent show. And wow, did our Year 6s deliver! There were laughs, impressive moves, hidden talents and so much encouragement for one another. It was such a joy to see their confidence shining through.

A delicious dinner followed, giving everyone the chance to refuel before our final treat for the evening. We headed up for a rooftop movie night, surrounded by the glow of towering buildings and the buzz of the city below. Sitting together under the night sky, wrapped up in blankets and sharing popcorn and giggles, it was the perfect way to end another unforgettable day.

Day 3 - 10,000+ steps

Today was light on the walking (well... compared to the other two days), but heavy on the fun. We were treated to a pancake breakfast with whipped cream and syrup, then we packed our bags and set out. Our first stop was Ron Barassi Park, where students had some time to enjoy the views of the city and enjoy the area. We had spirited games of markers up, playground fun, and some students even practice their cheerleading moves on the grass.

It was a short walk to Archie Brothers Arcade from there. Student had 2hours of unlimited arcade games, and boy was it a blast! Laser Tag was another highlight. Each class had a turn in the arena, competing with and against each other and their teachers.

Its safe to say that the bus ride home was a totally different vibe on the way back. Filled with exhausted, but incredibly happy Grade 6 students.

It was a truly unforgettable experience.
