Principal Update
Issue No 3
Term 1 - Week 8
Dear families,
It has been an exciting fortnight at St Kilian’s. Our students have been involved in a number of significant events, including NAPLAN testing for our Year 3 and Year 5 students, as well as the Year 6 Canberra Camp.
Each of these experiences provides wonderful opportunities for learning, growth and achievement. They also naturally bring a mixture of excitement, nervous energy and some disruption to our usual routines. These moments are important milestones for our students, and we are very proud of the way they approach these challenges.
2027 Enrolment Information
We are already approaching the time of year when we begin our enrolment process for the following school year.
Our 2027 School Information Night will be held on Wednesday 30 April at 7:00pm. School Open Week runs from Monday 24 April to Friday 1 May, during which school tours will be conducted.
If you know anyone interested in enrolling at St Kilian’s, please share this information or encourage them to contact our office.
Families with siblings are encouraged to complete the online enrolment application, available on our school website: St Kilian's Primary School – Enrolment Application.
White House Demolition Project
Works on this site are progressing well and have provided great interest for both students and staff.
Over the next couple of weeks, the following activities are planned:
· Continued internal stripping of the White House
· Ongoing separation of materials for recycling (steel, concrete, plasterboard, timber), including cleaning of bricks for reuse by both the parish and school
· Continued asbestos removal by licensed contractors
· Removal of the old playground and roofing
· Delivery of scaffold components to site
· Commencement of scaffold installation around the building
McAuley Building Project
The building has been cleared and handed over to the builders. We are now awaiting the building permit before works can officially commence.
Parents & Friends Association
The next meeting of the P&F will be held on Tuesday 24 March at 6:00pm in the school library. All families are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Committee Members:
· Presidents: Alisha Bahen & Abbey Meggs
· Secretary: Bec Reid
· Communications Officers: Sharelle Patten, Bec Richie & Kim Fisher
The P&F have many fundraising and social events planned for this year and are always looking for support and for families to get involved.
Year 6 Camp
Congratulations to our Year 6 students, who represented St Kilian’s wonderfully during their recent Canberra camp. It was heartening to hear how respectful they were throughout the experience.
A special thank you to our dedicated staff - Steve Hammer, Rachael McLean, Erin Bourke and Miggy Podosky - for their planning, organisation and commitment to keeping students safe.
Student Birthdays
Students celebrating a birthday may wear casual clothes to school in recognition of their special day. If a birthday falls on a weekend or during holidays, students are welcome to choose a suitable school day afterward to wear casual clothing.
