Did you know that more than a quarter of our Year 12 students graduate with not just a VCE, but an additional qualification? These students have embraced the opportunity to combine their studies with a VET program, giving them practical skills and industry experience that make them work-ready from day one.

Why It Matters

Our graduates aren’t just leaving with theory—they’re stepping into the real world with hands-on expertise. From cookery and business to music performance, construction, beauty, and even game development, the possibilities are endless. Some students are ready to dive straight into apprenticeships as electricians, plumbers, or builders, equipped with power tool skills and their White Card for on-site work.

If you finished school before 2010, the landscape has changed dramatically. Today, students can explore a wide range of qualifications during and after school, boosting their employability and opening doors to exciting careers. Not sure what career to choose? That’s okay! Starting with a Diploma-level course can be a smart move—it’s typically just one year. Students can enter the workforce with a qualification, or use the experience as a springboard to higher-level study. And if they discover the field isn’t for them? They’ve invested one year, not four, and can pivot without feeling stuck in a course they are no longer sure about.

Real Stories, Real Success

Take Chloe Scott, our 2024 VCE VM dux. Through the Year 10 LEAP program and VCE Vocational Major, she accelerated in VET beauty services and completed her Diploma of Beauty by Year 12. No ATAR? No problem! Chloe applied and accepted an offer into a Bachelor of Dermal Science Degree at Victoria University and now inspires others by sharing her journey.

And then there’s one of our 2025 VCE VM students, who applied for an entry-level role at a well-known makeup retailer. The interviewer was so impressed with her skills and qualifications that she was offered a higher-level position.
