Deputy Principal Staff and Students Report

Reunion

On the weekend, I was very blessed to be able to attend the College’s 40th Anniversary Reunion and Gala Concert.  I was so proud to be a member of this Community.  Past students, parents, and staff members were present at the reunion, sharing great memories of their past days and were very impressed with the improvements to our facilities.  Many people also shared how being a part of this Community has been a great gift in their lives.  It is good to stop from time to time and reflect, giving thanks for the great blessing it is to be part of such a faith-filled, supportive, generous, united and caring Community.  We give thanks to God for the great people who make up our Nazareth Community.

On Saturday evening 25 October, we hosted the 40th Anniversary Gala Concert, which was truly amazing.  We were in awe of the incredible talent on display, provided by past members of our Community.  It was a true privilege and joy to share in this experience.  On behalf of the entire College, I would like to acknowledge the enormous efforts of many of our staff members in organising these events and the past students who performed.  It is the generosity and big hearts of our Community that are so important and provide so many opportunities for our students.  In particular, I would like to acknowledge and thank Mr Victor Brusco and Ms Kathleen Taura for sharing their time and talents so generously to make the Gala Concert a great success.  They are two fantastic Nazarenes.  I also wanted to acknowledge and thank Ms Sue Formanek for leading the Open Day Celebrations, another outstanding Nazarene who gives so very generously.

Child Safety

We continue to hear from staff members on duty about students exiting cars on the freeway off ramp at the rear of the College.  For the safety of all students, we would like to remind you to please support our students in exiting cars safely on their way to school.

Business as Usual

As mentioned in the Principal’s article, the behaviour of our Year 12 students during their last day celebrations was outstanding and I do not think there is one school in Melbourne that would have had their students behave as well as ours.  We are very grateful for this.  We also worked hard to plan and keep the celebrations of the Year 12 students separate from the rest of the school.  The rest of the school still has a few weeks to go.  We are encouraging students to continue working hard and maintain a business as usual approach, despite the Year 12 classes ceasing and Year 12 exams commencing.  It is a time for students to continue building on their work throughout the year, however, if they have not been working to their best potential, this is the time to make some significant improvements.  We invite parents to support us in encouraging our students to work diligently during this midterm period.  It is not a time to ease up, but a time to build.  Thank you in anticipation of your support.
