Principal's Message

Wominjeka from Justin Lania

Welcome back! The staff at Wollert are excited to have our students return for 2026 and feel empowered in their learning. We hope everyone feels refreshed for another year of growth at our school.

Dear Wollert Primary School Families,

We are excited to welcome many new families this year, including 82 Foundation students who have started this week—a highlight for our school and a moment to cherish for many families. All students have settled into school life at Wollert and have begun our Start-Up Program. This program helps students understand their rights as members of our team and their responsibilities in the classroom, outdoors, and in all learning environments.

As we embrace the motto of 'Aspirations Without Limitations,' we look forward to an exciting year ahead. Fostering a strong partnership between families and the school is vital for student success at Wollert Primary. We encourage all parents to be actively involved in their child’s education, school events, and decision-making opportunities.

Support from parents and guardians is crucial to our success at Wollert Primary School. We encourage you to introduce yourselves to your child’s teachers and make appointments with them via Compass if you have any questions or concerns.

We will be holding our 'Meet the Teacher' conferences on Thursday, February 26th, from 12:00pm- 8:00pm. This will be an opportunity for teachers to update their records and gather important personal information that will help support your child’s education. More details will be sent out to families next week.

At Wollert Primary, we have a highly committed staff team that collaborates to make our school an outstanding education setting dedicated to excellence for all. Our community is wonderful and supportive, remarkable staff, and highly engaged families. As I shared with the staff at our first curriculum day, students are at the center of everything we do in 2026. Their needs motivate us to provide the best possible learning environment for each child. This goal is reflected in our school’s staff 2026 theme for the year : Empowerment, which emphasises the importance of us working together to support each other in a vibrant and inclusive learning environment.

We are excited to announce a couple of new opportunities in 2026 to get the year started:

  • Our Student Leadership Program. This program will include school captains for the first time, along with leaders in STEM, sports, wellbeing, The Arts, and Environment in the Year 6 space. We are also hoping to introduce class captains for students in Years 2 to 5.
  • We will also introduce a new language program for Year 1 and 2 students in Italian, taught by our specialist teacher and language support educator, Signora Mangone and Borda.
  • We are also launching a new specialist subject for our Year 5/6 students titled 'Invention and Entrepreneurship,' which will include an introduction to 3D printing and the mathematics behind this application. Students will explore jobs that have yet to be created as part of our Student Excellence Program.
  • The Wellbeing Team will continue its work with the School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support program, celebrating positive behaviors with Dojo points for both inside and outside the classroom. Be sure to look out for our special letterbox!
  • We are also focused on literacy and numeracy programs, and an academic emphasis.
  • Starting in Term 2, students will engage in 'Passion Time' on Fridays, where they will have lessons on various extracurricular activities and be challenged to inquire into a range of subject matters.

We're excited about the upcoming learning opportunities for our school, and the 2026 staff are eager to get started!

School Newsletter

After our great feedback with the reintroduction of the newsletter in Term 3, 2025. Our school newsletter will be distributed electronically in the following dates in Term 1.

Week 2- Friday, 6th of February

Week 5- Wednesday, 25th of February

Week 8- Wednesday, 18th of March

Week 10- Tuesday, 31st of March

We share significant information along with updates about upcoming events and activities taking place at the school. It is essential for parents and guardians to read the newsletter and Compass newsfeed posts to stay informed about what is happening and to be aware of upcoming events.

This year, as we further develop our use of Compass, we will enhance communication and information sharing through this platform. The following updates will be communicated via compass:

  • All newsletters will be delivered as news items with links.
  • Semester reports will be distributed through Compass and will be stored for easy access by families. Paper copies will only be provided upon request from parents or guardians to the main office.
  • The booking system for teacher interviews and conferences will continue to be available on Compass.
  • All communications regarding information and events will be shared through Compass.
  • Permissions and payments for excursions and incursions to be processed via the Compass platform.

Have a lovely weekend,

Kind regards,

Justin Lania
