Book Week Incursion

Students we treated to a special performance in the lead up to Book Week with the incursion 'Something Special'.  We welcomed students from Tongala Primary School who joined us to enjoy the wonderful show. It was a fantastic way to celebrate our love of books, stories and performance!

This performance followed Shelly and her new neighbour Tom as they were paired together for a school project. With Shelly's love of music and Tom's love of books, they had to learn more about each other and work together to create something they could both be proud of. 

Our students loved the fun, engaging and interactive performance, which cleverly incorporated some of this year's shortlisted Book Week books, the same books we enjoyed during Friday's Book Week activities. 

MultiLit School Visit

As part of the ongoing work of Magnify Sandhurst, Term 3 saw a number of MultiLit School Visits take place across schools throughout the diocese. These visits aim to support schools in strengthening and embedding evidence-based literacy programs, including InitiaLit, MiniLit Sage and MacqLit, into everyday teaching and learning.

St Patrick’s was fortunate to be part of this round of visits, providing our leadership team and classroom teachers with the opportunity to work alongside MultiLit specialists. The visit was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the progress we have made in literacy, observe teaching and learning in our classrooms, and receive personalised feedback and guidance to continue developing our literacy programs.

We are excited to continue building on this work at St Patrick’s and ensuring our students receive high-quality literacy instruction to support their reading and writing development. We were very pleased to be involved in the visit and are incredibly proud of the dedication, enthusiasm and hard work shown by both our staff and students as we continue to make literacy learning engaging, effective and enjoyable.

Betty Olle Poetry 

This term, students in Grades 3–6 were given the opportunity to participate in the annual Betty Olle Poetry Award. Students were challenged to write their own traditional Australian bush verse, drawing on their imagination, creativity and knowledge of the Australian landscape.

It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and originality that students brought to their writing, with some fantastic poems showcasing their creativity and storytelling skills. We are very proud of the effort our students put into their entries and look forward to hearing the results of the competition!

ICAS Competitions 

We have now wrapped up the 2026 ICAS assessments, with our final competition, Mathematics, completed last week.

A huge well done to all of the students who participated across the English, Science, Writing, Spelling Bee and Mathematics competitions. We are incredibly proud of the effort, commitment and willingness to challenge themselves that our students have shown throughout the ICAS season.

We look forward to participating in the ICAS competitions again next year and seeing our students continue to challenge themselves and strive for their best.
