ITALIAN
Italian Learning in the Final Two Weeks of Term
As we approach the end of the term, students in Italian will be consolidating and celebrating their learning through a range of revision activities and oral presentations.
Senior students will be preparing and presenting short oral presentations about their families (La Mia Famiglia). They will use their developing Italian language skills to introduce family members, describe relationships, and share information using the vocabulary and sentence structures they have been learning throughout the term.
Our junior students will be revising key vocabulary and language concepts, with a particular focus on the days of the week and family words from our La Mia Famiglia unit. Through games, songs, interactive activities, and speaking tasks, students will have opportunities to demonstrate their understanding and confidence in using Italian.
It has been wonderful to see students increasingly using Italian words and phrases in class, and we look forward to celebrating their progress as the term comes to a close. Bravissimi, ragazzi! (Well done, everyone!)
SPORT
Swimming week was a cold and drizzly week with tired children, so it was the perfect opportunity to complete our final Health lessons.
Across the school, all students discussed and modelled 'consent'.
Junior Health
The younger students made 'personal bubble balloons' and asked each other to enter (or not!) their bubbles. This was a great visual reminder that while some people like to be touched/hugged/wrestled - others do not! We should remember to respect each other's boundaries and ask first. The lesson was completed by watching the Bluey episode, Dance Mode (ABC iView, Season 2) and brainstorming all the ways that Bingo's boundaries were not respected and what her family could have done instead.
The Senior groups delved a bit deeper into the concept of consent and role-played all the different places that it could be relevant in their lives, including personal boundaries, interactions with friends, sharing belongings and online. It was a friendly reminder that consent online can be as simple as posting photos of friends, or giving their phone number to someone, ensuring they ask first. We also discussed that consent must be freely given (not pressured) and can be changed at any time.
ART
In Media Art lately we have been learning about the design process and how it can be used in many different subjects and professions. We have used the design process to plan, design and create the current projects we have been working on in Media Art. These include designing and drawing stop motion characters for stop motion videos and making music and movie posters. Here are some behind the scene photos.
DRAMA
During our drama lessons, we've been continuing to experiment with using our bodies and facial expressions to communicate characters and how they are feeling. We're talking about how emotions feel in our bodies, how they look, and being creative and coming up with wacky situations for wacky characters!
Here's some of the 1/2s, who went on an imaginary hike up a volcano, found some cool birds, got chased by bears, ate too many snacks, found a cool stick, and were rescued by giant eagles!
