INDONESIAN

 

On Monday 17th August Indonesian language students at Oberon High School celebrated the 81st Indonesian Independence Day. Celebrations at school included listening to the national anthem Indonesia Raya, playing community games like Makan Krupuk (eat the prawn cracker) , Lomba keledar (marble and spoon race), kain dan takraw and many more.

YOGYAKARTA STUDY TOUR

This Sunday 6th September, 17 Year 10 Indonesian students will join Bu Pritchett, Ms Shaw and Mr Buchanan for the Indonesian Study Tour 2026. 

 

The group will spend 12 days in Yogyakarta, Java, where they will visit temples, palaces, learn the traditional Indonesian arts of batik printing, dancing and gamelan, visit a school and orphanage, learn how to plant rice and cook Indonesian food, shop in Jalan Malioboro, eat lots of delicious Indonesian food and do lots of activities where students get to practise their Indonesian language skills.

GERMAN POETRY STATE FINAL

This event was held two weeks ago at the Austrian Club in Heidelberg. 

Oberon had two participants who both performed extremely well. 

Congratulations to Daniel Zaal of Year 7 and Yuxuan See of Year 9 on qualifying for this prestigious competition.

FAREWELL TO SAGSE EXCHANGE STUDENT

Joyce Woukep Kwopnang finished her 10 weeks exchange at Oberon High School last week. Joyce and the group of scholarship students are heading to Sydney prior to returning to Germany on Thursday 3rd September. 

We wish Joyce all the best for her future studies and thank her for her contributions to the languages program. Joyce is pictured below with her host sister Aliyah

GERMAN EXCHANGE UP-DATE

16 students and 3 teachers from our sister schools near Marburg in Germany will arrive in Geelong on Grand Final Day (26th September) and stay with their host families until  

24th October. 

 

The group will tour the Great Ocean Road for 4 days, head to Melbourne for a day and attend school for the remaining days.  All students will be required to wear an Oberon HS uniform! 

 

We are looking forward to this visit.
