School Nurse Janice

As I write my final contribution to our school newsletter, I find myself reflecting on a nursing career that began over five decades ago. I have had the privilege of caring for countless individuals and working in many different settings—but I can say with absolute sincerity that my last decade at Wedderburn College has been one of the most memorable and rewarding of all.

During these years, I have truly felt valued, trusted, and a true part of the Wedderburn College community. Wedderburn College highly values wellbeing of staff and students and being part of this team has brought me enormous work satisfaction, joy, and purpose.

I have been involved in supporting our students in so many ways including -attending school camps, organising wellbeing days, delivering class health promotion sessions, coordinating Glasses in Schools program, The Dental Van visits, and facilitating the Doctors in Schools program and staff education to name a few.

What I will remember most are the relationships: the students who brightened every day with their resilience and honesty, the families who placed their trust in me, and the staff who worked alongside me with dedication and kindness. Thank you for welcoming me, supporting me, and allowing me to be part of your student’s lives in such meaningful ways.

As I move into the next chapter of my life, I leave with a full heart and deep appreciation for the experiences I have shared at Wedderburn College and my time with you all will always hold a special place in my memories.

Season’s greetings and all the best for 2026.

As I am at present on leave due to surgery all Wellbeing enquiries and appointments with School Doctor (last clinic for this year is next Monday) can be organised through the Office or Kerry Walker.

The Department is working on recruiting a suitable School Nurse to replace me at Wedderburn for the start of 2026.
