My Local Community

In this unit, students explore what makes a community and their place within it. They learn about important places, people, and roles in their local area, and how communities work together.

Students investigate how communities are cared for, how they have changed over time, and how decisions are made to improve them. They will take part in activities such as mapping their local area, comparing the past and present, and working on a small community improvement project.

Through this unit, students develop a sense of belonging and begin to understand how they can contribute positively to their community.
