Principal's Message

Dear Families,

This newsletter brings us to the close of Term 1. As we conclude the term, we would like to acknowledge the efforts and achievements of all students across the school. Their dedication to learning, willingness to take on new challenges, and positive contributions to our school community have been greatly appreciated.

On Sunday, we commenced the holiest week in the Church’s calendar with the celebration of Palm Sunday, The Passion of the Lord. We are called to set aside the distractions that keep us from focusing on Jesus and journey with him to the cross.

The Easter Triduum lasts from Holy Thursday evening to Easter Sunday evening, and is the climax of the Church’s year. The sorrow we feel will turn to joy as we celebrate the glorious resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday. We will rejoice in the new life of Jesus.

We invite families to join the parish Holy Week and Easter masses:

No Assembly Week 1

As we have our ANZAC Day service on Friday 24th April at 10:45am, we will not be having a normal Friday morning assembly. Families are welcome to join us for the ANZAC Day service.

Reconciliation

On Thursday last week our students participated in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Through prayer, preparation, and the support of their teachers and families, the children have come to understand God’s endless love and mercy. We thank Fr Raju for his guidance through this sacrament.

First Reconciliation reminds us all that no matter how young or old we are, God welcomes us with kindness, forgiveness, and a fresh start.

Congratulations to: Jasmine, Felicity, Rafael, Vera, Freddie, Chiara, Sienna, Mila and Mason. May God’s gentle love accompany you always.

Jeans for a Cause

Last Friday you may have seen the staff wearing jeans or denim. We regularly show our commitment to social justice as a staff by having Jeans for a Cause days where staff members can nominate a charity they feel passionately about for us to donate to, and everyone can wear denim.

A close friend who I used to work with, recently lost their wife, Anna after her 20 year battle with scleroderma. Scleroderma is a rare autoimmune condition that affects the body’s connective tissues and can cause serious damage to internal organs. In honour of Anna’s memory, we supported Scleroderma Victoria, an organisation that provides support for families and funds important research into this condition.

It was so lovely to see staff get behind this fundraiser.

Reminders

  • A reminder that tomorrow, the 3rd April is Good Friday and the school will be closed. We return for the start of Term 2 on Monday April 20th.
