Mental Health Well-Being

Hello! My name is Jane Prentice, and I am delighted to be joining Carnegie Primary School during Terms 3 and 4.
I am a Graduate Diploma of Counselling and Psychotherapy student at The Cairnmillar Institute and will be completing my supervised placement at CPS on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Your child may see me around the school as a friendly adult presence while I learn about and connect with the school community.
As part of my placement, I will support student wellbeing through observation, relationship-building and, where appropriate and with parent or carer consent, short-term individual or small-group counselling.
My approach is warm, respectful and child centred. I aim to create a safe and supportive space where children feel heard, understood and encouraged as they navigate life’s ups and downs.
I bring 20 years of experience working in pastoral care in Australia and overseas, as well as more recent experience in chaplaincy. Throughout my placement, I will receive supervision from experienced counselling professionals and work closely with the school’s wellbeing team.
I am looking forward to getting to know the CPS community over the coming months. If you see me around the school, please feel welcome to come and say hello.
If you would like to learn more about my role, or believe your child may benefit from additional wellbeing support, please speak with your child’s classroom teacher.
Warm regards,
Jane Prentice
