Kindergarten
Our Kindergarten students have been buzzing with excitement and learning throughout Term 3. We are thrilled to share the wonderful activities and achievements happening in our classroom!
In Literacy, the children have been enjoying the story “Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type” by Doreen Cronin. This engaging book inspired our students to paint colourful cows and write about their memorable visit to the School’s Ag Farm. A big thank you to Miss Burton, Mrs Upjohn, and the Primary Industries students for guiding our adventure and giving the children hands-on experiences with the baby chickens, cows, and sheep. It was a morning filled with fun and learning!
In Mathematics, our young learners have been working hard to master their ‘friends of ten’—pairs of numbers that add up to ten. They have also been practicing sharing objects equally into groups and exploring shrinking and growing patterns. These activities are helping build strong number sense and problem-solving skills.
We are incredibly proud of all our Kindergarten students for their dedication and enthusiasm. We look forward to seeing their continued growth and curiosity in the weeks ahead!
UNE Discovery Visit
On Tuesday, Stage 2 and 3 students were lucky enough to welcome UNE Discovery to our school for an exciting day of hands-on learning.
During one of the session, students explored the world of engineering through the Pig Power Tower challenge. Working creatively and collaboratively, students designed and built towers to keep as many pigs as possible safe from the hungry wolf!
In the second session, students discovered how science and art work together. They explored drawings created by scientists and discussed how these illustrations can help us understand and communicate scientific ideas. Students then had the opportunity to create their own detailed sketches of dinosaurs, native plants and Australian animals.
It was a fantastic day of learning, creativity and discovery. All students thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and developed an even greater appreciation and love for science and STEM.
Spelling Bee Regional Final
Congratulations to Matilda Sowerby and Fletcher Devlin, who proudly represented Uralla Central School at the Regional Spelling Bee Final.
Matilda competed in the Senior section, while Fletcher took part in the Junior section. Both students demonstrated excellent preparation, confidence and perseverance as they tackled the challenging words presented on the day.
Unfortunately, neither student progressed to the next stage of the competition. However, both Matilda and Fletcher represented Uralla Central School exceptionally well and should be very proud of their efforts.
Well done, Matilda and Fletcher, on this wonderful achievement!
Thalgarrah
Stage 3 attended Thalgarrah, where they learnt about local Aboriginal artefacts and history. Students enjoyed playing some Aboriginal games, building shelters from folk tales and even held their snake, Sophie! Overall, students enjoyed the day outside learning!
