Principal's Report

Dear Families,

This past fortnight has seen the commencement of the annual transition process.  Our Year 12 students sat their first exam on Tuesday morning marking the first step in their final transition from secondary school. The nerves were certainly apparent as they waited to enter the examination room but the relief on their faces as they exited was a pleasure to witness. The English teaching team met them, and they chatted about what they had written in response to the questions on the paper.  The students were confident that they had completed the exam and displayed the knowledge and skills that they had been taught. The teaching staff were also confident that the students were well prepared when they were finally able to receive a copy of the examination paper.  Today saw the biology exam and the first of the Mathematics Methods papers. Many of our students spent the study SWOTVAC period onsite with practice exams and receiving feedback from the staff. I’ve chatted with many over the week, and I know they are looking forward to celebrating with friends once the exams conclude.  

Meanwhile, as one group transitions out we have commenced the Steps to Prep program for the incoming year prep students.  The excitement was certainly evident on Wednesday morning, and they bounced in full of confidence. The children certainly enjoyed the morning's activities whilst there were a few emotional comments from families whose first child was taking the leap into school. It is truly a very special and emotional time for families at both ends of prep to year 12 school as one chapter begins and another closes.

To wrap up our week, today we celebrate our wonderful teachers with World Teachers Day, hats off to our wonderful staff who excel at teaching our students. Thank You. 

A reminder of our final curriculum days for 2023,  The School Council has endorsed the additional date of  Friday 8th December, as well as Tuesday 19th December for 2023. 

The curriculum days for 2024 have been confirmed according to the below. 

Monday 29th January 2024 - staff return ( students attend from Tuesday 30th January ) 

Monday 17th June 2024 - school review and planning

Wednesday 31st July 2024 - review and planning

Monday 4th November 2024  - PPD day
