HAMPER FOR HOPE

VCE VM Personal Development students are committed to helping those who experience food insecurity in our community. After learning about food insecurity and the effects this has on people's health, lives, and wellbeing, we have partnered with the Salvation Army to create 'Hamper's for Hope'.

Each bag will have 8-10 items that will be delivered to families around our community to help alleviate some stress this coming holiday season.

We also hope to be able to put something special in each bag for extra cheer (packet lollies, biscuits etc)

We are committed to this project and doing our part for the community this holiday season, in the hopes we can support those living with food insecurity, and have committed to 25 'Hamper's for Hope' on behalf of Altona College.

Donations are welcome for all members of our community and can be dropped off in the main office in the tubs provided.

We thank you for your ongoing support of our projects and our commitment to helping those in our local area

Secondary Art Students

The year 10 3D Art students are in the middle of making coil clay pots for their end-of-year Art CAT. The coil pot is made using clay hand-building techniques and is the oldest form of pottery. Whilst this form of pottery was generally used to hold things such as grains, ours are a little more creative and less practical. Each student has developed a chosen design and is now in the process of making their drawings 3 dimensional. Well done to everyone for making each class fun and active.

My Canvas My Art Exhibition

Amazing work by all those students who put in the time and effort to complete wonderfully creative artworks for the ‘My Canvas My Art Exhibition’. The exhibition is now on show at the Hobsons Bay Civic Centre.

Year 10 Digital Technology

The Year 10 Digital Technology class have been exploring different types of technologies and their uses in society. As October is both Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), and Rett Syndrome Awareness month, Mrs Smith brought in an eye gaze device for the students to learn about. People with Rett Syndrome are non-verbal and do not have functional use of their hands so they communicate by using a computer controlled with their eyes. Students learned how to use their eyes to move the mouse and select objects through games. They then applied their skills to turn the pages of a book and create messages so they could talk to their friends.
