Year 10 Mock Interviews

Recently, our Year 10 Personal Growth students participated in Mock Interviews as part of their study of the Barefoot Investor steps. Under Step 7, “Get a part-time job from age 15,” students have been developing their resumes and cover letters in preparation for entering the workforce.

Students applied for a fictitious job by writing a cover letter before taking part in an interview for the position. They were asked typical interview questions such as “Why do you want this job?”, “What skills and attributes would you bring to the role?” and “Why should we employ you?” Following their interview, students received valuable feedback on their performance and areas for improvement.

The Mock Interviews were coordinated by Mary Ann Sait from the North Central LLEN, with Mary Ann, Pam McConville, Julie Bourke and Simon Rohde from Skill Invest forming the interview panels. The overall feedback on how the class performed was overwhelming positive with Mary Ann and Julie agreeing this class was the best class of Mock interviews they had seen.

A big thank you to Mary Ann for coordinating this valuable experience and to Pam, Julie and Simon for giving their time to interview our students and provide such helpful feedback.

Kailie’s Costume Design

A huge congratulations to Kailie on completing her Unit 4 artwork for Art Making and Exhibiting. Kailie has worked with great dedication and commitment throughout the semester to complete an ambitious costume design comprising four individual pieces.

Kailie’s work has been influenced by YouTube designer CrazyCae, who creates unique costumes and makeup artistry inspired by fantasy characters, as well as Trish Summerville and Kara Saun, the renowned costume designers behind The Hunger Games and The Descendants series. These influences can be seen throughout Kailie’s imaginative designs, particularly in her use of fantasy, dramatic silhouettes, and intricate detailing.

Creating the costume has required Kailie to develop and refine a wide range of practical skills and techniques. She began by designing and drafting her own clothing patterns before constructing the skirt and infinity top. She then added painted and screen-printed elements to the skirt, creating further visual interest and detail. Kailie also sculpted and painted the scythe and twin blades, before incorporating corsetry techniques into the bell sleeves and back of the top.

The completed costume demonstrates Kailie’s creativity, perseverance, and growing confidence in working across a variety of materials and processes. It is a fantastic achievement and reflects the significant effort she has invested in her Unit 4 artwork.
