Year 10 Melbourne CBD Camp

With the Year 10 Snow Camp unfortunately cancelled this year due to a lack of snow, students instead headed to Melbourne for a jam-packed three-day CBD Camp from 31 August to 2 September.

One of the highlights was an Amazing Race around the Melbourne CBD, which saw students racing between some of the city’s well-known landmarks while completing a range of challenges along the way. As well as being lots of fun, the race was a great opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with the CBD and practise navigating their way around the city.

The action continued with ten-pin bowling (with Mrs Griffiths taking out the win!), laser tag, ice skating, mini golf and an escape room. Students also enjoyed a night-time walk along Southbank to see the famous Crown fireballs and had some free time to explore the CBD and do a little shopping.

A visit to the MCG included a guided stadium tour, time exploring the Australian Sports Museum and plenty of friendly competition in the interactive Game On! area. Students also headed to the movies to see The Odyssey before dressing up for a night at the beautiful Regent Theatre to see the musical Pretty Woman.

It was certainly a busy three days, with plenty of laughs, challenges and memorable experiences along the way.

Birchip Cropping Group Field Day

Year 10 & 11 Donald High School students attended the Birchip Cropping Group Field Day on September 7th.

Introduced to the day by Channel 7 Weather presenter, Jane Bunn, our leaders Issy and Brady lead the visiting students from Donald, Birchip, Ouyen, Loddon Valley, Pyramid Hill among others, there was lots of agriculture and specifically crop growing.

From the soil pit, to automated tractor, large machinery, herbicide and pest control, there was so much for the students to explore.
