Celebrate the WINS!

At the beginning of the term, I asked the Primary School to consider the following questions. Is it harder to:

• Start a book, or finish it?
• Join a team, or stay committed throughout the season?
• Start a fitness routine, or maintain it over time?
• Make a friend, or be a kind friend consistently?

Choosing a goal and having a plan to work towards it is the first step in developing GRIT, but it takes effort and persistence to be faithful to process and see it through. Helping our students to appreciate the importance of celebrating the WINS is both an encouragement and a motivator as they continue to work towards a particular goal.

As we look towards the Term 3 finish line, there are many WINS to celebrate!

The 2026 Primary Athletics team recently enjoyed two incredible days of interschool competition, displaying GRIT in their competition and overcoming the challenges of Melbourne weather.  With a record 29 podium finishes, DCC were declared District Champions last Thursday. The following day they competed in the CSEN event and were announced as the 2026 CSEN Christian Schools Overall Champions! At our assembly, we celebrated their WINS.  Their hard work, commitment to training and the sportsmanship shown by our students is worthy of a celebration!

The Primary Vocal Ensemble participated in the Victorian Schools Music Festival on Monday, and sang with passion and joy. With amazing direction provided by Mrs Mel Searle and Mr Bonfa, the hours of hard work, rehearsal and working together resulted in them being awarded a GOLD ranking! We enjoyed celebrating their WINS at assembly too!

There are plenty of learning moments that are worthy of celebration too!

The Year 1 student expo saw curious young learners grow in their understanding of community and working together. The Year 4 social justice unit culminated in several guest speakers providing insight and context to their inquiry learning, as they seek to become advocates for justice in their own communities. Our Year 6 students are preparing for the annual Mission Market, and we look forward to celebrating their WINS as we see their stalls come to life, and money raised to support the various mission organisations.

Starting is one thing, but it is much harder to continue and see something to completion. Let’s continue to be champions of our learners and students as they take small steps towards their goals, celebrating the WINS along the way, and helping them to develop GRIT and find JOY in being faithful to a task.
