Swimming Squad Trials for the 2026 St Simon Swimming Team

Later this term, our school will be conducting swimming squad trials to select our 2026 St Simon the Apostle Swimming Team to compete at Wantrina District Swimming interschool competition.

Students have been asked about their interest in trying out for the swimming squad in their freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.

All students who have expressed interest will have an Operoo permission form sent home to their parents listing the dates of our swimming trials at Dandenong Oasis before school (7:30-8:30am).

The dates for the trials are soon to be announced. We ask parents to deliberate and select the strokes your child wishes to try out for the team on the Operoo form. If they know how to perform all four swimming strokes, please encourage your child to try out for all of them or as many as they are capable of swimming.

If you wish for your child to try out for the 2026 swimming squad but have not received an Operoo permission form, please contact Mr Karl Camerino by email : karl.camerino@ssrowville.catholic.edu.au

Knox Division Summer Sport Achievements

An amazing effort by our Year 5/6 students who competed at the Knox Division T20 Cricket, Hot Shots Tennis and Fully Loaded Softball Championships. Our highlights of each competition are below:

Hot Shots Tennis competition– Boys/Mixed and Girls

On a beautiful sunny day, our boys and girls tennis teams showcased fantastic effort and sportsmanship at the Hot Shots Tennis Championships.

Our boys team faced some tough competition in their pool but remained positive and determined throughout. Despite narrowly losing two of their three pool games, they bounced back with a strong performance in the finals, finishing 5th overall. Their resilience and teamwork were truly commendable. Thank you to Mark for his wonderful encouragement and support of our Boys team on the day!

For our girls team, teamwork was the key focus as they supported each other across both singles and doubles matches. They secured two strong wins in their pool and battled hard in a close contest, narrowly going down 5 sets to 7. Their consistency and cooperation on court earned them a 4th place overall finish.

T20 Cricket Girls competition

Our girls cricket team rose to the occasion and truly made the most of their big day! Their standout moment came with an incredible team total of over 200 runs in a single innings, showcasing their outstanding batting focus, power, and teamwork.

Although they faced a tough opponent in one of their pool games, the girls demonstrated great spirit and unity, ensuring everyone had the chance to contribute with both bat and ball. Showing true resilience, they bounced back brilliantly to win their final match and finish 3rd overall in the competition.

We are so proud of their determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Well done, girls — your effort, positivity, and passion were nothing short of inspiring!

Fully Loaded Softball competition– Boys/Mixed and Girls

With a focused and determined mindset, our boys/mixed and girls softball teams set out to play with power, precision, and teamwork both in the field and at bat. Our girls team dominated their pool games and carried their momentum into the finals, delivering an outstanding 22–12 victory through exceptional batting and pitching. This incredible performance crowned them Division Premiers — a well-deserved achievement for a talented and hard-working team!

Our boys/mixed softball team displayed incredible enthusiasm, energy, and positivity throughout the day — never letting mistakes hold them back and always supporting one another. Facing some tough opponents in their pool games, they relied on their strong fielding and teamwork to secure key victories.

The highlight of the day came in a thrilling grand final that went down to a tiebreaker. After a determined batting comeback in the third inning, the game was decided by an unforgettable moment — a powerful hit from Kyan S sent the ball flying, with every runner sprinting home. As Kyan’s foot hit home base, the team erupted in celebration, sealing a 1-run victory and claiming the Grand Final title!

True to their character, the team remained humble in victory, congratulating their opponents and displaying outstanding sportsmanship.

Congratulations to our Softball Boys — Division Premiers!

Both our Girls and Boys/Mixed teams now advance to the Eastern Regional Softball Championships on Monday, 10th November at Waverley Softball. We wish them the very best of luck as they take on the next challenge!
