Snapshot of Learning - Year 2

St Simon’s Day

Through the eyes of Year Two’s

We began the day with a Mass that all the Year Twos participated in, centred around the theme of Hope, which was the focus for the day. During the celebration, we were also introduced to the mascot of the Jubilee Year, "Lucē.”  Lucē was beautifully painted by Ms Denise Do and the Prep - Year 2 took Lucē with them on their pilgrimage around the school.

Our pilgrimage then began within the school, starting in the hall where Mrs. Solari played the song Hope Is Alive. Students spent some time reflecting on the lyrics and considering what the words meant to them personally.

Our second stop was the church, where Gen, Liz, and Thomas performed for us. We then had the chance to join in with the singing and dancing, and some of the Year Twos were invited on stage to help the younger students with the dance moves.

Next, we continued to our third stop, where Mr. Wursthorn read us a story about St. Francis of Assisi. We listened closely and gained insights into his life and teachings.

We concluded the day together as a whole school, joyfully singing and dancing to the song we had learned in our earlier session. The day was filled with laughter, smiles, and a deep sense of reverence—making it a truly special celebration.
