YEAR 8
Building Strong Connections

Head of Year 8
Congratulations to all Year 8 students involved in the musical! What a pleasure it was to watch you all light up the stage on Wednesday for the Year 8 and 9 performance.
It takes many hours of dedication and rehearsal, as well as courage and resilience, to create such a polished production. You embodied every element of the ‘St Mary’s Way’, especially perseverance and community. We are so proud of your efforts and your performance!
As we near the business end of the term, the Year 8 Assessment Planner is extremely busy, with drafts, assignments and exams due. Please encourage your child to consult this planner regularly to ensure they are well prepared for their assessments.
During this assessment period, students are expected to complete study each night for their subjects. This may include revising class notes, creating flashcards, re-completing classwork or completing revision questions in textbooks.
If your child is absent for an assessment due to illness, please reach out to their classroom teacher to organise an alternative arrangement.
Cahill and Heavey Houses had a fantastic time participating in the Interhouse Challenge on Wednesday morning, led by our Year 10 Leaders. Heavey House came out on top and will progress to the finals in Week 9. Hutchinson and Murray Houses will participate next Wednesday (Week 8).
Thank you to our Year 10 Leaders and Mrs McQueen, Head of Year 10, for giving up their time and demonstrating exemplary leadership as they guided our Year 8 students through this fantastic activity.
We are loving the opportunity to build connections with our older students, who are fantastic role models for our Year 8s.
