NQ All Schools Touch Football Carnival
Last Friday, our Junior Mixed Touch Football team and Senior Mixed Touch Football team travelled to Townsville to compete in the NQ All Schools Touch Football Carnival.
After a gruelling day and a half of pool games, our Senior Mixed team finished fifth in their pool, recording a great win against Northern Beaches State High School and a draw against Columba Catholic College. In the playoffs on Sunday afternoon, they faced a tough opponent in Good Counsel College from Innisfail, finishing 10th overall.
Our Senior team now looks forward to four more weeks of training before travelling to the Gold Coast in October to compete in the Gold Coast Titans QLD All Schools Touch Football Carnival.
Our Junior Mixed team started the carnival in sensational form with an 11-0 win over Gilroy Santa Maria College. That winning form continued, with four wins and one loss in the pool rounds, securing their place in the finals.
Our Junior team made light work of their semi-final opponent, defeating Mackay Northern Beaches 8-4 to progress to the Grand Final.
Exhaustion, injuries and nerves were not going to stand in the way of our very talented young players as they supported one another to a 3-1 victory over William Ross State High School, claiming the Grand Final!
Congratulations to each and every player on an outstanding performance across the two days. A very special mention to Nina P, who was named Player of the Grand Final. What an achievement!
BDO Hockey Gala Day
