Year 2 Students Explore Nature on Excursion to Centennial Park

On Wednesday 12 August, our Year 2 students embarked on an exciting excursion to Centennial Park. The visit gave them the chance to take part in a variety of outdoor, science-based activities that brought their classroom learning to life.

Students began their adventure by collecting pond samples and analysing them, discovering the fascinating creatures and plants living in the water. They spent time exploring the park’s many habitats, identifying different animals and learning how these environments help support local wildlife.

A highlight for many was observing the colony of flying foxes that call Centennial Park home. Students watched these amazing mammals in their natural setting and discussed their important role in the ecosystem.

To finish off the day, students teamed up to build imaginary animal habitats, combining creativity with their new understanding of how animals adapt to their surroundings.

The excursion was both educational and lots of fun. Year 2 students thoroughly enjoyed connecting with nature and science, and we look forward to more outdoor adventures in the future!
