News from the Rowing Sheds

Mr Andrew Pinelli, Rowing Coordinator

Try Rowing

It was exciting to see a number of new faces at the sheds just before the last school holidays for our Try Rowing experience. This session was specifically for girls who are new to St Mary’s and wanted to have a go. Many of our existing older rowers and families were on hand to help out, which is always greatly appreciated.

As a result, several of the girls have joined our Winter Program, which consists of morning gym sessions and on‑water experiences on Sunday mornings. If you missed this and think you might be interested, please do not hesitate to email me (apinelli@smc.tas.edu.au) to discuss, especially if you are in Year 9 or older.

Winter training

Our rowers have already hit the gym, with sessions starting last Monday. These sessions are for new girls as well as those who want to maintain their fitness over winter.

Awards night

Preparations are underway for our end‑of‑season Awards Night. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our rowers from last season and acknowledge the efforts of all rowers, coaches, and volunteers.

The Awards Night will be held on Monday 25 May. Details have been emailed to all families. If this email has been misplaced, please do not hesitate to contact me.

We require an RSVP and payment ($25 per person) via Qkr! by next Monday 18 May.

  • Rowers in Year 7, 8 and 9 are to wear full sport uniform.
  • Rowers in Year 10, 11 and 12 are to wear full formal uniform.
