As I join your community for the term, it has been wonderful to experience the warmth, generosity and spirit that defines St Mary’s College.  It is clear this is a place where people look out for one another and continue the work of Nano Nagle by showing unwavering courage, high standards and compassionate hearts.  I thank you all for your warm welcome.

Mother’s Day Breakfast: Hospitality in the Presentation tradition

Our recent Mother’s Day Breakfast was a beautiful example of this spirit in action. The morning was filled with laughter, conversation and the joy of families and friends gathering to honour and thank the remarkable women who nurture and guide our students. We truly appreciate their care as we work together to support our young people. The care taken in preparing the breakfast and the thoughtful touches throughout the morning remind us of the hospitality, gratitude and service which underpins the spirit of the College.

House Spirit Week: Living our values

This week is House Spirit Week, and it has brought an incredible energy to the College, showcasing the enthusiasm and unity of our students. Whether cheering on their Houses at the House Spirit Parade and DJ session, playing netball against St Virgil's College students, stepping into leadership roles or supporting their peers, students demonstrated what it means to be part of a community that values connection and shared purpose.  These have been great student initiatives which have provided a chance for students to come together and share the joy of belonging to a House and community where everyone has a place and a chance to be themselves. Their actions certainly reflect our College values of respect, responsibility, relationships and resilience.

Do you have feedback or suggestions? Let’s work together…

As a College, we value being genuine partners with families in supporting our students. To improve the opportunity for families and students to share their insights and offer suggestions, we have created new process for this.

  • Early years students can give feedback via the suggestion box in the Student Resource Centre.
  • Years 3-12 students can use Feedback tiles on Connect
  • Parents and carers can use the link on the Family Connect page (please note that this is not for urgent matters, as data is only collected several times throughout the year and will be reviewed by the College Leadership Team)

We look forward to hearing from you!

Staying safe in public: A reminder for our school community

We want every student in our community to feel confident, safe and free to enjoy their day without worry. While you shouldn’t have to think about personal safety every time you’re out in public, the reality is that a little awareness and a few protective habits can make a meaningful difference in keeping ourselves and each other safe. This isn’t about living in fear. It’s about being smart, prepared and looking out for one another.

Practical safety behaviours you can practice

  • Stay aware of your surroundings. Keep your eyes up, especially when walking, waiting for transport, or moving through busy areas.
  • Travel with friends when you can. There’s strength in numbers, and it’s more fun anyway.
  • Share your plans with someone you trust. Let a friend or family member know where you’re going and when you expect to be home.
  • Tell a trusted adult if anything happens that makes you feel unsafe.
