Term 2 is always a busy and productive time in the learning calendar, and this year is no exception. With several key academic events approaching, it is timely to highlight the opportunities ahead for students and families to engage deeply with learning progress and future pathways.

Our first major event is the Years 7–10 Goal Setting Conferences on Thursday 14 May. Over recent weeks, students have been thoughtfully reflecting on their learning, identifying strengths and setting meaningful goals. These conferences provide a valuable moment for students, families and teachers to come together as a team to support learning growth. If you are unable to attend at the scheduled time, or if bookings with particular teachers are already full, please reach out directly to the relevant staff. A reminder that students in Years 7–10 will finish at 12.50pm on this day to allow extended time for conferences.

In the Junior School, we look forward to our second round of Learning Conferences on Tuesday 16 June and Wednesday 17 June. Booking information will be available on Connect closer to the date. At St Mary’s College, we deeply value collaboration and the shared responsibility of supporting each child’s learning journey. For these mid‑year conferences, students in Years 3–6 are invited to attend with their families. While our Early Years students do not participate in the meetings just yet, they are actively engaged in classroom goal‑setting to build early habits of reflection and ownership of learning.

For our senior students, Years 11 and 12 Course Information Night will be held on Wednesday 3 June. This evening forms an important part of our comprehensive approach to guiding students as they consider pathways for 2027 and beyond. Families will have the opportunity to speak with our passionate and knowledgeable staff, as well as hear from students who have already begun navigating their senior secondary options. It is always an energising and inspiring event.

Finally, Term 2 concludes with the release of mid-year reports on Friday 10 July. These reports represent a snapshot of achievement against the A–E scale and should be viewed alongside ongoing online feedback and the rich conversations that take place during learning conferences. Together, these elements provide a holistic picture of each student’s progress.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting the learning and wellbeing of every student. Term 2 promises to be a rewarding and purposeful journey for us all.
