Ecolinc Excursion

On Tuesday the 28th of July, Year 11 biology students travelled to Ecolinc Science and Technology Centre, Bacchus Marsh, to participate in a program called A Devilish Dilemma. This involved studying Tassie Devil Facial Tumour Disease through exploring the genetic diversity of the Tasmanian Devil population, their adaptations and pedigree analysis.

We had the opportunity to use different types of equipment, such as micro peppers, a centrifuge and a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, which isolates small amounts of genetic material. It was exciting learning new techniques and we're grateful for the experience.

We would like to thank Miss Revell for organising the excursion and Mr Gawne for taking us.
