Senior Years Report

Year 12 Camp
The Senior Years program at Lara Secondary College has begun Term 1, 2026 with a strong and positive start. Our Senior students have returned focused and motivated, setting clear goals for their learning, pathways and post-school aspirations. This term, we are prioritising high expectations around attendance, organisation and consistent engagement in classes, alongside our student’s wellbeing.
During Term 1, students will participate in the first round of Year 12 Pathways Interviews to clarify goals for VCE, VCE-VM and future study, training or employment. Structured Workplace Learning placements, leadership opportunities and targeted academic support sessions are also underway. We have hit the ground running!
We look forward to a great term together as we support our senior students to thrive and achieve their personal best in 2026.
Year 12 Commencement Camp, Ballarat
Three big days at Federation University set our Year 12 students up for success! Students engaged in a range of workshops focused on study skills, wellbeing, goal setting and building positive connections as a cohort. We were inspired by guest speaker Mel Kawa, national-level rugby union player, alongside sessions from Connect Education and Elevate Education, which provided practical strategies to tackle the rigour of Year 12 with confidence and resilience.
Our VCE VM students also explored a local business to connect their learning to real-world workplace expectations, before enjoying some team-building fun at Combat Zone Laser Skirmish. The camp provided valuable opportunities for students to strengthen friendships, connect with staff and reflect on their goals for their final year of schooling.
A motivating and memorable start to the final year, setting a positive tone for success in 2026. Thank you to all the teachers that made this happen! Special mention to Ms Foster for organising and running such a great experience and Mr St Pierre so being the trivia master and commanding the mic

Every Day Counts: The Importance of School Attendance
At Lara Secondary College, we know that every day at school matters. Daily attendance helps students make the most of learning, friendships and opportunities that shape their future.
We understand there are times when your child may need to miss school. To help minimise disruption, please consider scheduling family holidays or medical appointments outside of school hours. If your child is feeling worried about friendships, schoolwork or exams, coming to school is the best way to get support — staying home can make worries feel bigger.
If your child is finding it hard to attend, please reach out to their Year Level Coordinator or Sub School Leader — we’re here to help. And remember to let us know about any absences promptly via Compass.
For more information about the importance of everyday attendance, see Attendance and Missing School.
Remember, Every Day Counts.
