It has been an amazing term and the school captains have an end of term wrap up for you.
Term 3 has been a busy and exciting term filled with lots of great events. Including R U OK Day, a day that reminded us to support one another and showed us that help is always around us. Colour Clash brought everyone together for a fun day of colour and school spirit, meanwhile we had events such as the House Cup, that gave us the chance to compete, work as a team and represent our houses. DASH, through the Blue Light program, gave us an opportunity to stay active while learning about making safe and responsible choices. Celebration of Learning allowed us to share and recognise the hard work we’ve put in throughout the term. Book Week encouraged us to enjoy reading and get creative. Today, Footy Day brought everyone together for a fun day of teamwork and school spirit. Overall, it’s been a term full of learning, new experiences and great memories. As student leaders, we’d like to thank all the other leaders, students, teachers and staff who helped make these events possible. Let’s take that energy into Term 4 and finish the year strong!
We have had such an amazing term and we have so much to celebrate. This morning at assembly I acknowledged 3 amazing groups of students who have exemplified our school values throughout the term.
Stand UP Leaders – Honesty and Responsibility
Our Stand-Up Leaders have been working on strengthening our culture of inclusion and respect. These students presented to staff and then parents about statistics related to bullying, the thoughts and opinions of our EVPS students and have started to work on an action plan and working with our younger students to upskill them around upstander and help seeking behaviour. Our leaders continue this work into Term 4 teaching lessons to younger students and we can’t wait to see the continued impact of their work. We thank them for demonstrating our school values of
honesty - in bravely sharing their own experiences and feelings and responsibility – in leading our younger students to be upstanders in their classes and across the school.
Thank you to Johnathan our Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader who leads this group of student leaders.
DASH Leaders – Caring and Respect
The DASH showcase had our student leaders demonstrating all of our school values and working towards projects that will make a difference, not only to EVPS but to our whole community. Each group pitched an amazing idea, ranging from how to combat bullying racism and rubbish. In particular the groups showed us the values of caring and respect by proving to us how their projects would impact the lives of our students and build a better future for everyone. Our invited community leaders helped to vote for the group that would have the greatest impact. As mentioned in last week’s newsletter the winning group ‘The Racism Rangers’ have been awarded $1000 to implement their idea and we look forward to seeing their project come to life next term.
Thank you to Ellie D who leads this group of student leaders.
Year 3 Champion Readers
The Year 3 Team have had a strong focus on reading at home this term and there were 16 students who read almost every night of Term 3. They demonstrated our school values of excellence and responsibility by sticking to and achieving their goal. We look forward to seeing their achievements next term.
Assembly
A big congratulations to all of the students who received awards this morning at assembly for the Victorian High Ability Program, 104 students with 99/110% attendance and our Principal Award recipients – you are all amazing!!
Please enjoy the R U OK feature in the coming pages – it was an amazing day filled with lots of fun activities and a brilliant message about checking in with each other EVERY day, not just on R U OK Day? A huge thankyou to Elisha and the Wellbeing Team and the Student Leaders for the amazing day.
Warm regards,
